About the promotion

Open Fighting Championship (Open FC) is a Russian professional mixed martial arts league. The promotion was founded in 2020 by Alexander Guryanov, who serves as the organization's president. Prior to establishing Open FC, Guryanov developed Gorilla Fighting Championship, which was later sold to Khabib Nurmagomedov and rebranded as Eagle FC.

One of the main directions of Open FC is holding professional MMA tournaments and developing fighters capable of competing on major Russian and international platforms in the future. On its official website, the organization calls Open Fighting Championship “the foundation for future combat sports stars” and provides athletes with the opportunity to independently submit an application to participate in the league’s tournaments.

History of Open FC

The first numbered tournaments of Open Fighting Championship took place in 2021. Already in the first season, the league began actively expanding the geography of events: competitions were held in Samara, Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Krasnodar, Bishkek, Minsk, Almaty and other cities.

Open FC has gradually built a model in which tournaments are held not only at a single main venue, but also in cooperation with regional teams and organizations. One of the development directions has been work with local MMA communities, allowing athletes from different regions to receive professional fights in front of a home audience.

In 2021, Open FC also began cooperation with the St. Petersburg project "Time of New Heroes". The concept of the project was related to the search and development of young athletes, the best of whom could continue their careers at Open FC tournaments.

Tournaments

Open FC holds international professional mixed martial arts competitions. The events feature ranking bouts, matchups between promising athletes, and title fights for the organization's championship belts.

The official Open FC archive includes dozens of numbered events. The league's tournaments are held in various regions of Russia and beyond its borders. Over the years of operation, Open FC has held events in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Samara, Tolyatti, Yekaterinburg, Barnaul, Omsk and other Russian cities, as well as in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Uzbekistan.

Fighter development

An important place in the Open FC concept is occupied by the search for promising athletes and the creation of a path for them from their first professional appearances to major international organizations.

The league accepts applications directly from athletes. During selection, fighters provide information about their achievements at the amateur and professional levels, weight category, previous performances, team, and personal athletic goals.

Athletes who later continued their careers on the international stage have competed in Open FC tournaments. One example is Uran Satybaldiev, who won the Open FC championship belt in the light heavyweight division and later became the LFA champion and a UFC fighter.

Gadji Rabadanov was also associated with Open FC. Alexander Guryanov noted that the athlete became the champion of his organization even before his subsequent performances on the largest international platforms.

Championship bouts

Open FC operates a system of championship titles in various weight categories. Belts are contested in separate title bouts, and champions are given the opportunity to defend their titles at subsequent events.

Over the years, the Open FC titles have been held by representatives of Russia and other countries. For example, Uran Satybaldiev won the light heavyweight belt in 2021 and then successfully defended it at Open FC 20.

The league continues to develop its title system. At Open FC 68 in Saint Petersburg in August 2026, Medgat Zhakypbek won the interim middleweight championship title in a bout against Vladislav Fokin.
