RUSADA Anti-Doping Program

Anti-doping is the protection of an athlete's right to participate in competitions free from doping. Fighting doping safeguards clean sport, while violations of anti-doping rules put the athlete's health, career, and results at risk.

ADAMS is an Anti-Doping Administration and Management System: an online database for entering, storing, and transmitting data, reporting, and supporting anti-doping organizations.

Through ADAMS, information about athletes' whereabouts, Therapeutic Use Exemptions, testing, and laboratory results is managed. The system is used by athletes, national and international anti-doping organizations, WADA, and laboratories.

If an athlete is included in the RUSADA or international federation testing pool, they are required to submit whereabouts information through ADAMS.

For RUSADA athletes, information is submitted quarterly: by March 15, June 15, September 15, and December 15. Athletes must indicate a 60-minute availability window, a night-time address, and training or work locations.

Responsibility is personal: even if data is entered by a coach or family member, the athlete is accountable. Three violations within 12 months may lead to disqualification.

Athletes are responsible for everything found in their sample, even if there was no intention to violate the rules.

Prohibited substances and methods are divided into those banned at all times and those banned only during the competition period. A competition sample must not contain substances from the competition category, even if taken earlier.

The prohibited list is updated at least once a year: typically, the new version is published in October and becomes effective on January 1 of the following year.
