Lomachenko ready to return to the ring after career hiatus

Two-time Olympic champion Vasyl Lomachenko is returning to professional boxing a year after announcing his retirement.

According to sources close to the Ukrainian's team, Lomachenko's contract with Top Rank ended on May 12, 2026, after which the boxer became a free agent.

It is reported that the 38-year-old athlete is not interested in tune-up fights and intends to immediately hold a big fight against one of the leaders of the lightweight division.

The last time Lomachenko stepped into the ring was in May 2024, when he won early against George Kambosos and captured the vacant IBF belt in lightweight.

After that, the Ukrainian was negotiating a fight with Gervonta Davis, but back problems forced him to end his career.

Now Lomachenko feels much better and plans to hold a few more fights. One of the most likely options is returning to negotiations for a fight against Davis.
