New details have emerged regarding Raoni Barcelos' condition following UFC Fight Night 289.
Glover Teixeira, who worked in the Brazilian's corner, reported that after hospitalization doctors diagnosed the fighter cerebral edema and traumatic brain injuryAccording to him, this could have led to the sudden loss of consciousness in the fifth round.
Three days later, Barcelos was discharged from the hospital. Now the 39-year-old fighter faces additional examinations, after which he, together with his family and doctors, will decide on the continuation of his career.
At the moment the bout was stopped, Barcelos was leading on the judges' scorecards, but after Raul Rosas was taken down, he suddenly lost consciousness.
