On May 30, 2026, in Yekaterinburg at the UGMK-Arena, a grand RCC Boxing Evening will take place, headlined by Dmitry Bivol's title defense. But no less significant will be the co-main event: Ural native Vsevolod Shumkov (3–0, 1 KO) will face American of Mexican descent Christian “Kiki” Olivo (23–2–1, 9 KOs) for the WBA Gold belt in the up to 57.2 kg category.
Vsevolod Shumkov is one of the most titled amateurs of modern times:
– 2025 World Champion,
– European Champion,
– Master of Sports of International Class,
– Winner of the Russian Cup and Championships.
In the final of the world championship in Dubai, he defeated the reigning Olympic champion Abdulmalik Khalokov. Now, with just three professional fights under his belt, Shumkov gets a chance to enter the WBA top-10 ranking immediately.
His opponent, Christian Olivo, is a typical Mexican pro: started his career at 18, quickly won WBC youth titles, tried to conquer the USA but faced tough competition. After losses to Núñez and Cuello, he is seeking a career reboot – and a win in Yekaterinburg could return him to the elite of the division.
The Shumkov vs. Olivo bout will be a perfect blend of Olympic technique and Mexican toughness – and will determine a new contender for the world title.
